The Lexington-Bluegrass Association of REALTORS® (LBAR) and the City of Lexington have been selected to receive the 2009 Ambassadors for Cities designation and $5,000 grant. This award is presented in collaboration with the National Association of REALTORS® and the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

The partnerships recognized through the Ambassadors for Cities program have made the American dream a reality for more people—from all backgrounds and walks of life, in communities across the nation. LBAR has worked with community leaders to foster hope through homeownership through its work with the REALTOR® Community Housing Foundation (RCHF). RCHF depends on community volunteers, funding, and of course, REALTORS®, to ensure that the housing needs of the Bluegrass are met through home rehabilitation for the elderly, homeownership counseling for potential homebuyers, and installation of access ramps for the disabled.

Since its inception, the Ambassadors for Cities program has recognized 34 local REALTOR® associations and their cities for innovative partnerships to create more housing opportunities. These programs are all different in their own ways, yet they share a common spirit and purpose—to build strong communities through homeownership and affordable housing.

As the region’s leading advocate for homeownership, Lexington-Bluegrass Association of REALTORS® understands the value and joy of owning a home. LBAR represents more than 2,100 REALTORS® located in Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Franklin, Garrard, Harrison, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties. Visit www.lbar.com or call 859-276-3503 for buying and selling resources and real estate listings.
