LBAR announces $29.2 million in Franklin County real estate sales as of September 30, 2011

Residential real estate sales by members of the Lexington-Bluegrass Association of REALTORS® (LBAR) positively impacted the Franklin County economy as of September 30, 2011 with 218 reported sales totaling $29,226,293. Sales continue to be a driving force in the Franklin County economy when considering the multiplier effect on the area of buyers and sellers who purchase appliances, carpet, flooring, landscaping, etc in response to their transaction needs.
During the year-to-date 2011 residential sales decreased 29% from 308 sales reported during the year-to-date 2010 to 218 sales reported. The median sales price in Franklin County remained stable at $117,750 during the year-to-date 2011. During the same time period the average days on market increased 8 percent to 119 days. Residential sales decreased 29 percent, falling from 308 sales reported closed to 218.
Residential sales in Franklin County decreased 32 percent during September 2011 vs. September 2010 to 23 sales closed. The median sales price for the same time period remained stable, falling just 0 percent to $115,000.
