LBAR continues book donations to area elementary schools in Montgomery County
Nov 16th, 09
On Thursday, November 12, REALTORS® representing the
Lexington-Bluegrass Association of REALTORS® (LBAR) visited Camargo, Mt. Sterling,
and Mapleton Elementary Schools on Thursday and
presented character-building children’s books to the Montgomery County Public
School System. Each school received Enemy Pie by award-winning author Derek
Munson. In its second year, Melissa Poynter, the chair of the LBAR Community
Education Task Force, has continued to lead this project. Local Realtor Al Blevins read the story in each school, other
local Realtors in attendance included Lucille Hardin and Pam Simmons. This story follows a young boy and his father as they work
to turn the boy’s “Best Enemy” into his “Best Friend”. The book stresses the
importance of tolerance and relationship building amongst children. This contribution to Montgomery County
is a part of a larger donation to the elementary schools in the Bluegrass
region—LBAR will be presenting the book to 103 elementary schools in the
region. The project is part of LBAR’s goal to become involved with the area’s
school systems in innovative ways that will positively shape the future of our
community’s children. As the region’s leading advocate for homeownership,
Lexington-Bluegrass Association of REALTORS® understands the value and joy of
owning a home. LBAR represents more than 2,300 REALTORS® located in Anderson, Bourbon, Clark, Fayette, Franklin,
Garrard, Jessamine, Montgomery, Nicholas,
Powell, Scott and Woodford
Counties. Visit www.lbar.com or call 859-276-3503 for buying
