LBAR donates $10,000 to the Building Institute of Central Kentucky

The Lexington-Bluegrass Association of Realtors (LBAR) donates $10,000 to Building Institute of Central Kentucky (BICK). The funds will be used for application fees and text books for students wishing to excel in the skilled trades related to the residential and commercial construction industry. With consumers preparing to place their homes on the market and purchase their dream home, the need for skilled tradesmen is on the rise. The Building Institute was founded by the Building Industry Association of Central Kentucky (formerly the HBA of Lexington) in 2014 to answer the demand for skilled workers in Central Kentucky. This demand was created in part by the depth and severity of the great recession which caused many skilled trades workers to leave the construction industry.

2017 President Ty Brown said, "LBAR believes BICK is an ideal partner due to the program’s desire to train students in a way to ensure they get successful jobs and have a strong career in their respected industry. Home sales are off to a great start in 2017 with an increase of 11 percent year-to-date. A continuing trend fueled by projected population growth and declining inventory creates a housing environment that will benefit from expanding a trained and efficient industry related workforce.”
